Notes and Records Essay Award - still time to enter!
This biennial competition is open to researchers in
the history of science, technology and medicine who have completed a
postgraduate degree within the last five years. The unpublished essay, based on
original research, should relate to aspects of the history of science,
technology or medicine. The award includes a cash prize of £500. The deadline
for submission of an essay is 31st January 2014.
The 2012 winner was Meghan Doherty, for her essay
entitled 'Discovering the “True Form:” Hooke’s Micrographia and the Visual
Vocabulary of Engraved Portraits' – see http://dx.doi.org/10.1098/rsnr.2012.0031
. The essay is a detailed analysis of Robert Hooke’s artistic connections and
his studies of drawing.
