Dr. Edward H. Bensley Osler Library Research Travel Grant

The Dr. Edward H. Bensley Osler Library Research Travel Grant is available to historians, physicians, graduate and post-doctoral students, and to those interested in the arts and humanities of medical history whose project requires them to travel to  the Osler Library of the History of Medicine in Montreal, Quebec. Each year up to $4,000 in awards will be made to one or more individuals who require a minimum of 2 weeks to carry out their research in the calendar year in which the grant is awarded.
The Osler Library is a major resource centre for historical research in the health sciences and is the international centre for the study of Sir William Osler and the Oslerian tradition. The library opened in 1929 to house the collection of rare medical and other books donated by Sir William Osler, renowned physician and McGill graduate and professor. Initially comprising 8,000 titles listed in the Bibliotheca Osleriana, the collection--the finest of its kind in Canada--has grown to around 100,000 works including medieval manuscripts, rare printed books, archives, and artifacts, as well as current books and periodicals about the history of the health sciences and related areas.
For more information about the travel grant offered and to apply, please visit: https://www.mcgill.ca/library/branches/osler/grant. Applications for research to be carried out during the 2016 calendar year should be received by December 31, 2015.
