Leeds Philosophy/History and Philosophy of Science Graduate Teaching Assistantship 2011-14

The School of Humanities at Leeds intends to offer a Graduate Teaching Assistantship in Philosophy or History and Philosophy of Science for its full-time PhD programmes.

The scholarship is available from 26 September 2011 and consists in a payment of £8500 per annum for teaching and maintenance, along with full fee waiver for Home/EU students and partial fee waiver (equivalent to full Home/EU rate) for international students.

The Scholarship is available only to new PhD applicants, not to currently registered PhD students.

Scholarship recipients are expected to provide teaching and teaching support for Philosophy/HPS for up to six hours per week on average. Appropriate training is normally compulsory for all holders of these awards.

This award is tenable for one year in the first instance in the School of Humanities, and is renewable annually for your second and third years of study, subject to satisfactory academic progress and satisfactory performance in teaching, and on condition that you are successful in the ‘transfer’ process and are eligible for full PhD registration at the start of your second year of research.

The award must be taken up by no later than 26 September 2011 and registration must be completed by that date (the award cannot be deferred).
