The main goal of the School is to provide training and to encourage debate, participation and effective interaction among the attending public and the invited specialists, dealing with basic and practical aspects concerning the interplay between history of science and education.

Max Planck Research Group Leader

The Max Planck Society invites applications for a Max Planck Research Group Leader (W2, 5 years) at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science: The successful candidate will have a distinguished research background in the history of science and/or knowledge, either directly or as a focal area within the social sciences, humanities, engineering, a science discipline or interdisciplinary field of study (e.g., area studies, cultural studies, or history of technology). Applicants should have received their Ph.D. no longer than five years before the application deadline. Successful applicants will have the aptitude to lead a research group at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science. In addition to administrative support and the working opportunities at the institute, the endowment will include funds to employ one research fellow, or to invite visiting scholars, and to award scholarships. Society for the History of Alchemy and Chemistry Award Scheme 2013

The Society for the History of Alchemy and Chemistry invites applications for its award scheme for 2013. Two types of award are available: support for research into the history of chemistry or history of alchemy by New Scholars and support for Subject Development of either history of chemistry or history of alchemy. The New Scholars Award is open to post-graduate students (both masters and doctoral students) and those who have obtained a PhD within five years of 1 January of the year in which the application is made. Awards of up to £1000 will be made to cover research expenses, including travel, accommodation, subsistence, the reproduction of documents, and library fees. Applications may also include the costs of reproducing images for publication. The scheme will not fund the purchase of equipment or course fees. Call for proposals for eight Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowships

Call for proposals for eight Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowships (temporary positions, full time, public sector pay scale 13) Starting August 1, 2013 Humboldt-Universitaet zu Berlin is offering eight fellowships for postdoctoral researchers. The fellowships are funded by the German federal and state governments’ Excellence Initiative and will be awarded for up to 36 months. Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowships are geared towards outstanding young researchers who wish to conduct a postdoctoral research project at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The call is aimed at researchers who have completed an outstanding PhD project and have international research experience. In order to be considered for the fellowship researchers are required to submit a proposal for an excellent and original project they plan to conduct during their stay at Humboldt-Universitaet. The proposed project should fit well with the research structure at Humboldt-Universität. You
