XX SIMPOSIO DE LA SOCIEDAD ESPAÑOLA DE HISTORIA DE LA MEDICINA Primera Circular

El área de Historia de la Ciencia de la Universidad de Granada tiene el gusto de anunciar la celebración del XX Simposio de la Sociedad Española de Historia de la Medicina los próximos días 10 y 11 de noviembre de 2016, dedicado a “La investigación historicomédica en España, presente y futuro”. El encuentro se estructurará en tres sesiones expositivas, una sesión de póster, una mesa redonda y, siguiendo el mandato de la SEHM,  la Asamblea reglamentaria de la Sociedad. Las exposiciones correrán a cargo de responsables de proyectos de investigación en activo que presentarán y debatirán sus proyectos en forma de tales o a través de sus resultados principales.  La Mesa redonda versará sobre los retos profesionales y contará con la participación en primera persona de investigadores e investigadoras jóvenes. III Jornadas internacionales sobre Historia de la traducción no literaria

Las editoriales/imprentas españolas y las obras traducidas del francés (hasta 1900) Valencia, 23, 24 y 25 de noviembre de 2016     En estas III Jornadas Internacionales sobre Historia de la Traducción no literaria, deseamos abordar otra faceta complementaria de lainvestigación a que dieron lugar las dos ediciones anteriores. En la primera se abordó la difusión de los saberes técnicos y científicos franceses en España (s. XVI-XIX) enfatizando el papel de la traducción como vehículo transmisor de estos saberes. En la segunda el objeto de estudio fueron los traductores, vectores humanos esenciales para la transferencia de los conocimientos entre ambos países. En esta tercera edición, nuestra meta es reunir investigadores alrededor de otra de las figuras, para nosotros imprescindible en la transmisión de los saberes antes mencionados: los editores de las obras no literarias traducidas del francés puestas al alcance de los lectores interesados en los avances científicos y técnico

Cfp: BJHS Themes Issue 3

We are calling for proposals for Issue 3 (2018) of BJHS Themes , the annual open-access journal that is a companion to the British Journal for the History of Science. Like the BJHS , BJHS Themes is published by Cambridge University Press on behalf of the BSHS. The first two volumes are 'Science of giants: India and China in the 20th Century' (issue 1, 2016, guest editors Jahnavi Phalkey and Tong Lam) and 'Animal agents' (issue 2, 2017, guest editor Amanda Rees). We are looking for proposals of the highest quality for the third issue, with the successful proposal to be decided through competition. The deadline for submission of proposals is 15 July 2016 . Benvolgudes/ts,  Novament fem crida a la participació per a les sessions 'Work in Progress' del CEHIC que tindran lloc un divendres al mes (de 12'30 a 14h) durant el curs acadèmic de l'any vinent (2016-17). Recordeu que els seminaris 'Work in Progress' són un fòrum de discussió transversal on s'hi poden presentar recerques en curs, noves idees per projectes, qüestions historiogràfiques, etc. Està obert a membres i no membres del CEHIC interessats en història de la ciència, i s'anuncia a ARBAN. A few weeks ago, someone in Moscow told us about a letter (totally unknowm and never published) residing in Saint-Petersburg (Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences), and the librarian sent us a scan of the letter ! And we got recently valuable information from libraries in Copenhagen, Uppsala, Leiden, The Hague, London. We assume that Guy Patin wrote thousands of letters (in French and in Latin). Dins la CONVOCATÒRIA DE DUES BEQUES DE RECERCA PER A LLICENCIATS UNIVERSITARIS "BEQUES L'HOSPITALET 2016" ,  n’hi ha una per desenvolupar un projecte de recerca sobre l’ “Història de la sanitat pública a l'Hospitalet. Des del segle XIX als nostres dies”. S’especifica que l’objectiu és “realitzar un estudi de tots els canvis existents al llarg dels dos últims segles de la ciutat, i com han afectat aquests a la vida quotidiana de la població i de la cuitat en general.” La data límit oficial per presentar les sol·licituds a l’entitat convocant és el dia 31 de juliol de 2016 a les 14 hores .

Inspiraciència. Concurs de relats d’inspiració científica

Us recordem que teniu temps fins al 19 de maig per a participar a la convocatòria oberta de la sisena edició d’Inspiraciència, concurs de relats d’inspiració científica. És una iniciativa que relaciona ciència i escriptura d’una manera lúdica i participativa, un espai obert a tothom on pensar i imaginar la ciència, des de la ficció . S’hi poden presentar relats originals de fins a 800 paraules escrits en català, castellà, gallec o euskera en dues categories, jove (de 12 a 17 anys) i adult (a partir de 18 anys), amb l’única condició d’estar inspirats en la temàtica científica . Philip J. Pauly Book Prize Nominations Sought for Histories of Science in the Americas

Type:  Prize Date:  July 1, 2016 Location:  United States Subject Fields:  American History / Studies, History of Science, Medicine, and Technology, Latin American and Caribbean History / Studies The Forum for the History of Scienced in America seeks nominations for the 20016 Philip J. Pauly Book Prize. The award, consisting of $500, is given for the best new scholarly book in English in the history of science in America, published in 2013, 2014, or 2015 by a first-time book author. The Prize will be awarded at the History of Science Society's annual meeting in Atlanta this November. The prize committee construes "America: very broadly, to include works situated geographically in any part of North or South America or the Caribbean, and/or narratives dealing principally with the scientific cultures or institutions of such places. Contributing chapters to edited volumes does not disqualify an author from the "First book" criterion.
