Job: Assistant Professor of the History of Recent LifeSciences,UW-Madison

Assistant Professor of the History of Recent Life Sciences The Department of History of Science at the UW-Madison invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the history of recent life sciences, extending back to the mid-twentieth century.  The position begins in August 2013.. Applicants should already hold a doctorate in History of Science, Science and Technology Studies, History, or related disciplines, or they must complete the doctorate by the time of the appointment. The successful candidate will help to advance research and teaching in the historical, political, cultural, and ethical dimensions of recent life science. Climate and beyond. Knowledge Production about Planet Earth and the Global Environment as Indicators of Social Change The Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research of the University of Bern, the Institute of History of the University of Bern and the History Department of the University of Zurich are organising a conference to bring together historians of the earth sciences and environmental historians. It aims to explore the social, cultural and political changes induced by earth scientists and the knowledge and institutions they have created over the last two centuries. Scope of the Conference The conference will look at the issue of social change through the lens of earth matters.
