Media Art Histories 2013: RENEW The 5th International Conference on the Histories of Media Art, Science and Technology RIGA, Latvia - October 8 - 11, 2013 The 5th International Conference on the Histories of Media Art, Science and Technology - RENEW, will be hosted by RIXC in partnership with the Latvian Academy of Arts, Stockholm School of Economics and Danube University’s Center for Image Science. The Society for the History of Alchemy and Chemistry: The Partington Prize 2014

The Partington Prize 2014 The Society for the History of Alchemy and Chemistry has established the Partington Prize in memory of Professor James Riddick Partington, the Society’s first Chairman. It is awarded every three years for an original and unpublished essay on any aspect of the history of alchemy or chemistry. The prize consists of five hundred pounds (£500). The competition is open to anyone with a scholarly interest in the history of alchemy or chemistry who, by the closing date of 31 December 2013, has not reached 35 years of age, or if older has been awarded a doctoral thesis in the history of science within the previous three years. Scholars from any country may enter the competition, but entries must be submitted in English and must not have been previously submitted to another journal. The Dahlem Research School's Postdoc Fellowship Program - co-financed by the German Excellence Initiative and the Marie Curie Program of the European Commission - provides funding for outstanding postdoctoral researchers from all disciplines to conduct their own research project at Freie Universität Berlin. The aim is to support highly-qualified postdoctoral researchers who are outstanding in their field and to integrate them into one of the university's research groups in an early phase of their career. The program is designed to promote the further academic career development through research funding, a tailored qualification program including essential professional guidance on preparing grant proposals, and the opportunity to develop teaching and leadership skills.
