CFP: Panels of interest for ASECS and ISECS

There are two panels I am suggesting for the ASECS in Vancouver and the EC/ASECS in Pittsburgh meetings. I might try them for ISECS in Graz, too.

The Alps, the Pyrenees, the Andes: History and Science

These mountains are rich in history and culture, some known to historians from the most ancient times; they helped shape our world.

Hannibal's trail still exists; the site of the historic battle at Roncevaux in the Pyrenees is celebrated and visited by tourists; the empire of the Incas still astonishes us to this day. Great scientists lived and toiled in the Alps, in Austria, Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. I am looking for papers that explore and analyze some of the events that took place in our period, broadly interpreted (1650-1850).
