Organised by the Institute of Physics (History of Physics
Group), in collaboration with the EPS History of Physics group.
The conference will inaugurate a new international
series, bringing together professional historians of science, practicing
physicists, science museum staff, lecturers, teachers and others with interests
in any aspects and periods of physics history

Programme
It is envisaged that the programme will consist of 8
invited lectures of duration 35 minutes and 15 contributed lectures of 20
minutes. In addition there will be a poster session and a one-hour debate on
contemporary issues concerning the presentation of science and its history in
museums.
Invited speakers currently include Paolo Brenni, Jed
Buchwald, Hasok Chang, Isobel Falconer, John Heilbon, Heinz Krenn, Iwam Morus
and Friederich Steinle. The titles of their presentations will be posted at a
later date.
The participants in the museums debate will be Ian
Blatchford and Ken Arnold with Jim Bennett in the chair.
Contributed presentations will be selected from abstracts
submitted before the deadline of 1st February 2014. Notification of acceptance
as either an oral or poster presentation will be made by 1st March 2014.
On the first day of the conference (Thursday 4th
September) the sessions will start at 9:15 am and end at 5:40 pm. On the second
day (Friday 5th
September) they will start at 9:00 am and finish at 5:20
pm.
A reception is planned for the evening of Wednesday 3rd
September and a formal dinner for Thursday 4th September. Further information
