Reorganizing chemistry after the Great War (1918-1927)
Reorganizing chemistry after the Great War (1918-1927)
An international symposium, to be held at the University of Paris
Orsay) on Thursday and Friday, 19 and 20 November 2009.
The symposium forms part of a wider ongoing project of the Groupe d’histoire et de diffusion des sciences d’Orsay (GHDSO) of the University of Paris (Orsay), aimed at encouraging the study and rehabilitation of the rich printed collections of the Maison de la Chimie, now held in the university library. The main theme of the symposium, as of the wider research programme, will be the relations between chemistry and society in the inter-war period. More specifically, it will explore what can be learned from the collections and the international spirit that animated the Maison de la chimie project.
Papers will be given in both English and French, and both languages will be used in discussion.
For further details, contact Dr Danielle Fauque (GHDSO) at danielle.fauque@u-psud.fr
