CFP: Canadian Society for the History of Medicine Annual Meeting 2012 deadline extended to Dec. 15
The deadline for proposals for the annual meeting of the Canadian Society
has been extended to December 15, 2012. Please see full CFP below.
The Canadian Society for the History of Medicine is launching a call for
papers for its annual meeting which takes place at the Congress of the
Humanities and Social Sciences at Wilfrid Laurier University and the
University of Waterloo between 26 – 28 May 2012. The general theme of
this year’s Congress is “Crossroads: Scholarship in an Uncertain World.”
The Program Committee for the annual meeting of the Canadian Society for
the History of Medicine thus invites researchers from all disciplines to
submit proposals in English or French related to the Congress theme. The
Committee will also consider proposals which are not directly related to
the theme but are related to the history of healthcare and medicine in
Canada and elsewhere. Graduate students are especially encouraged to
apply.
The Program Committee encourages proposals for panels of three papers with
a moderator. The committee, however, will also consider individual
proposals for papers.
Please send a brief abstract of your proposal of not more than 350 words
plus a one-page curriculum vitae along with your contact information by 15
December 2011 to:

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit proposals and curriculum
vitae electronically. If you prefer to send your documents by mail,
please submit an original and 3 copies.
The Committee will announce its results before 15 January 2012.
Take note that every speaker invited to participate at Congress must
provide a bilingual summary (French and English) of their paper. Please
also note that all presenters at our meeting must be members of the
Canadian Society for the History of Medicine.
La Société canadienne d’histoire de la médecine lance un appel de
communications à l’occasion de sa réunion annuelle qui se tiendra pendant
le Congrès des sciences humaines à l’Université Wilfrid Laurier et à
l’Université de Waterloo du 26 au 28 mai 2012. Le thème général du
Congrès est « À un carrefour : la recherche dans un monde incertain. »
Le comité scientifique invite les chercheurs de toutes les disciplines à
soumettre une proposition de communication, en anglais ou en français, en
relation avec le thème présenté. Le comité considérera aussi les
propositions qui ne sont pas directement liées au thème, mais qui sont
reliées à l’histoire de la santé ou de la médecine au Canada ou ailleurs.
Les étudiant(e)s de 2e et 3e cycles sont encouragé(e)s à soumettre des
propositions.
Le comité scientifique encourage la proposition d’un thème pour un panel
qui réunit un maximum de trois présentateurs et un président de séance. Le
comité prendra aussi en considération des propositions individuelles.
