'The Artificial and the Natural' workshop - reminder of call for papers and confirmation of speaker line-up.
As co-organisers of a planned workshop entitled 'The
"Artificial" and the "Natural" in the Life Sciences, c.
1850-1950' (running 25th-27th June 2014), we would like to remind potential
participants of the call for papers for this event.
The workshop is supported by the British Society for the
History of Science and the British Society for the Philosophy of Science, and
funds are available for travel costs for postgraduate students.
Details of the workshop are on the workshop website
located at: http://exeter2014.wordpress.com.
The conference programme includes three plenary talks by
invited speakers Helen Curry (University of Cambridge), Jon Hodge (University
of Leeds), and Joeri Witteveen (Universiteit Utrecht) and multiple slots for
contributed papers.
The call for contributions is still open. We particularly
invite postgraduate students with an interest in the history and/or philosophy
of the life sciences to submit papers. Abstracts should be no more than 300
words in length and should be sent as word documents, PDFs or in the body of an
e-mail to Tarquin Holmes at th252@ex.ac.uk
by Friday 14th February 2014.
If you know of anyone who would be interested in this
workshop, please forward this email on.
We look forward to hearing from prospective participants,
Tarquin Holmes and James Lowe
