Faculty position in the Social and Cultural Dimensions of Health (UCLA)
UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences and the Semel
Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior (an interdisciplinary research
and education institute devoted to the understanding of complex human
behavior), in collaboration with the UCLA Division of Social Sciences, are
seeking applications for a full-time tenure-equivalent faculty position at the
Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank; level to be commensurate with
background and experience.
Applicants must have a demonstrated record of excellence in scholarship
that focuses on the social and cultural dimensions of psychological or physical
health and human functioning at the individual or population level. Specific
area of expertise is open, but we are particularly interested in scholars who
consider the role of psychosocial, biological, or cultural factors, or take a
developmental or lifespan perspective in their work.
Candidates must possess an established record of publication and
demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding. The position includes
doctoral and postdoctoral teaching and training responsibilities; excellent
teaching and mentoring skills are required.
We welcome applications from scholars from fields in the social sciences
such as, but not limited to, anthropology and sociology. The successful
candidate will hold his or her primary appointment in the Department of
Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences and a joint appointment in the
department(s)best suited to her or his research.
