Call for Papers: Environmental History of Warfare in Eastern Europe

Though
research on the environmental history of war has made major advances,
we have had little success in studying East Europe as a region. The
2017 European Society for Environmental History conference on 28 June – 2
July presents an ideal opportunity to make progress, since it will be
hosted by our colleagues in Zagreb, Croatia. I welcome proposals or
suggestions for panels on East Europe, and especially its southern
region. One conference theme is contact among states, economic systems,
cultures and religions. New understandings of the environmental
settings and consequences of wars in that region’s history would be an
important contribution. If you are interested to participate, please
