Professor of History of Science, NBA/IND, University of Copenhagen

The Niels Bohr Archive (NBA) and the Department of Science Education, University of Copenhagen, Denmark (IND) invite applications for a new permanent position in history of science at full professor level.
 
We seek a professor to design and develop a new research centre for the history of science located at the Niels Bohr Archive and who will conduct innovative historical research projects involving the Niels Bohr Archive‘s rich archival collections (which are constantly being supplemented).
 
The professor is expected to collaborate closely with the Director of the Niels Bohr Archive in developing the Archive, its activities and its resources. The professor will be appointed in a university position at the Department of Science Education and will be affiliated with the section’s research group on history and philosophy of science and science studies.
 
Applicants must document an outstanding, international publication record in the history of 20th century science, as well as a strong record in acquiring external funding, in developing and running a successful research unit, and in supervising junior scholars. Knowledge of the development of twentieth century physics is required.
 
Duties include fund raising for the center, research management such as supervision of research fellows and other staff as well as the professor’s own research. In addition, the professor may offer courses and thesis supervision to students at the University of Copenhagen.
 
Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required.
