II Colóquio Internacional de Arquitetura Assistencial: Hospitais e outros edifícios da saúde – da Modernidade ao Moderno
A história da
assistência, em geral, e dos hospitais, em particular, são um tema de
investigação multidisciplinar que têm convocado diferentes investigadores,
abordando questões de história social, religiosa e da ciência. Também a
história da arquitetura tem nestas temáticas um importante campo de estudo que
se tem consolidado nos últimos anos.
Os hospitais e outras
instituições assistenciais relacionadas com a saúde, devido ao papel social que
desempenharam ao longo da história, constituem-se como relevantes objetos de
pesquisa dos pontos de vista artístico, arquitetónico e patrimonial. Neste
contexto e no âmbito do projeto «Hospitalis – Arquitetura hospitalar em
Portugal nos alvores da Modernidade: identificação, caraterização e
contextualização» (PTDC/ART-HIS/30808/2017), promove-se a segunda edição do
Colóquio Internacional dedicado à Arquitetura Assistencial e convidam-se todos
os investigadores que tenham realizado ou estejam a desenvolver trabalhos ou
projetos inéditos, de síntese ou estudos de casos, relacionados com esta
temática a apresentar propostas de comunicações.
A primeira edição deste
evento, realizada em 2015, foi dedicada ao tema da arquitetura assistencial no
contexto do espaço luso-brasileiro, provendo uma abordagem global e
pluridisciplinar, com a caracterização das várias tipologias arquitetónicas
associadas. O escopo deste II Colóquio consagra a ampliação da rede composta
por investigadores europeus e da América do Sul que se dedicam ao estudo dos
edifícios da saúde e visa a caracterização e compreensão entre os exemplares
dos primórdios da Modernidade (século XV) até o que se convencionou identificar
como Arquitetura moderna (século XX), a fim de permitir o entendimento dos
espaços de tratamento e cura na longa duração.
A organização deste
evento científico cabe ao Gabinete de Investigação Misericórdias e instituições
similares: assistência, património e cultura, do CLEPUL – Centro de Literaturas e Culturas Lusófonas
e Europeias da Universidade de Lisboa, e
ao Grupo de pesquisa Arquitetura, memória e
etnografia, da Universidade Federal do Pará, certificado pelo CNPq.

exclusivamente, são:

Colloquium of Assistance Architecture:
Hospitals and other healthcare buildings – from Modernity to the Modern era
The history of assistance, in general,
and hospitals, in particular, is a multidisciplinary research topic that has
gathered together different researchers addressing issues of social, religious,
and scientific history. The history of architecture also has in these themes an
important field of study that has been consolidated in recent years.
Due to the social role they have played throughout history, hospitals
and other healthcare institutions are important research objects regarding
their artistic, architectural and heritage relevance. In this context, the
second edition of the International Colloquium dedicated to Assistance
Architecture will be promoted within the framework of the project “Hospitalis – Hospital Architecture in Portugal at the dawn of
Modernity: identification, characterization and contextualization”
(PTDC/ART-HIS/30808/2017). All researchers who have carried out or are
developing unpublished papers, projects, synthesis or case studies related to
this subject are invited to submit proposals for communications.
The first edition of this event, held in
2015, was dedicated to the theme of assistance architecture in the context of
the Luso-Brazilian space, providing a global and multidisciplinary approach,
with the characterization of the various associated architectural typologies.
The scope of this Second Colloquium includes the expansion of the network
composed of European and South American researchers dedicated to the study of
healthcare buildings and aims at characterizing and understanding case studies
of the early Modernity (15th century) up to what was commonly
identified as Modern architecture (20th century), in order to allow
the understanding of the spaces of treatment and cure in the long duration.
The organization of this scientific event is the responsibility of the
Research Office Misericórdias and
Similar Institutions: Assistance, Heritage and Culture, from CLEPUL – Centre
for Lusophone and European Literatures and Cultures of the University of
Lisbon, along with the Research Group Architecture, Memory and Ethnography of
the Federal University of Pará, certified by CNPq.
