Postdoctoral position at the Centre d’Història de la Ciència (CEHIC)
The Centre
d’Història de la
Ciència (CEHIC), at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB),
seeks
potential candidates for a 3-year postdoctoral position of the
programme “Juan de la
Cierva-incorporación 2019”. The position is co-funded
by the Spanish Ministerio de
Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, and the “ICREA-Acadèmia
award 2018”,
obtained by Professor Agustí Nieto-Galan. The selected candidate will work with Dr.
Nieto-Galan on some aspects of
the project:
“Chemopolis: The City of Chemistry in the Twentieth Century”, which is an attempt to build up
a new big picture of
chemistry in the twentieth-century at a European level. It
includes, among
other topics: cosmopolitanism; popular chemistry; toxics,
experts and users;
pure-applied dichotomies; chemists as intellectuals in
democratic and
dictatorial regimes; chemical technology and the
"natural-artificial"
boundaries.
The chosen candidate will
be later assessed by the “Ministerio
de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades”, which has the final
word in the
selection process.
