CfA: Policy, Expertise and Trust-PERITIA

The  Horizon 2020 European Commission funded research project PERITIA is calling for abstracts for the final conference of the project. The conference will take place at University College Dublin, March 23-25, and will focus on the key themes of the project including but not limited to: 
  • The scope and nature of public trust and distrust
  • The role of experts in policy decisions
  • Factors contributing to trust and distrust in experts 
  • Critical assessments of the role of experts in policy decisions
  • The role of social media in establishing trust and distrust 
  • The key indicators of the trustworthiness of the experts
  • Psychological, affective, and cognitive mechanisms relevant to trust and distrust
  • Empirical studies of trust and trustworthiness
 
The conference is chiefly organised around invited panels on the themes of the project, but individual papers on the topics of the conference from all relevant disciplines, including philosophy, sociology, politics, media studies, public policy, and science communication are welcome. Papers relating the themes of the conference to climate change are particularly welcome. 
 
We  now invite the submission of abstracts of up to 300 words to reach us by December 18 2022.

Information regarding acceptance should be available in January 2023.  

Selected papers will be considered for publication in a special issue or an edited volume.

A number of conference bursaries will be available for early career researchers and advanced  PhD students who do not have access to institutional support for travel. Please indicate your interest in receiving financial support when submitting your abstract. 

The conference will not charge a registration fee.
