Call for chapter authors - Epidemics, Pandemics, and Plagues: A Historical Reference Guide
We are seeking chapter authors for an intriguing new book to be published by Rowman & Littlefield: Epidemics, Pandemics, and Plagues: A Historical Reference Guide. The book will be a guide to historic pandemics, examining their relevance to the present day, drawing on contemporary primary sources. Each chapter will examine a specific pandemic in depth, covering aspects such as definition of the disease, suspected death rates, the areas and dates of disease outbreak and transmission routes, roles played by significant individuals, and socio-economic factors.
The contract is in place and we have several authors on board. We still need authors to write the following chapters:
Antonin and Justinian Plagues, 541-542 BCE and 541-549 AD
The Black Death, 1331-1770
The Great Influenza of 1918-20
The Flu Epidemics of 1956-58 and 1968
If you would be interested in writing about one (or two) of these pandemics, or know someone who would, or want more details about deadlines and such, please get in touch!
Many thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.
