History and Pedagogy of Mathematics ICME-15 Satellite Meeting

Among the activities of the HPM Group, there is the tradition of organizing conferences that are satellite meetings to the International Congress on Mathematical Education (ICME), organized by ICMI every four years.

The next HPM satellite meeting will be held in Sydney, Australia, at the Kensington campus of the University of New South Wales, 1st – 5th July 2024.

HPM 2024 is the eleventh quadrennial meeting of the International Study Group on the Relations Between the History and Pedagogy of Mathematics—the HPM Group (an affiliated study group of the International Commission on Mathematical Instruction, ICMI). By combining the history of mathematics with the teaching and learning of mathematics, HPM connects the past and the future of mathematics. Therefore, the group aims to stress the conception of mathematics as a living science, a science with a long history, a vivid present, and an as yet unforeseen future.

Our local organisers are Jim Pettigrew, Merryn Horrocks and Donald Shearman.

Submissions are due 15 March 2024 (extended deadline). To submit a proposal, download and fill in the Updated Activity Application Form (word version, pdf version).
