Platzman Memorial Fellowships The University of Chicago Library Special Collections Research Center Location: Illinois, United States The University of Chicago Library invites applications for short-term research fellowships for use during 2012. Any visiting researcher residing more than 100 miles from Chicago, and whose project requires on-site consultation of University of Chicago Library collections, primarily archives, manuscripts or printed materials in the Special Collections Research Center, is eligible. Support for beginning scholars is a priority of the program. Applications in the fields of late nineteenth- or early twentieth-century physics or physical chemistry, or nineteenth-century classical opera, will receive special consideration . Awards will be made based on an evaluation of the research proposal and the applicant's ability to complete it successfully. 2011-2012 Fellowships at The Huntington, California, USA

The Huntington is an independent research center with extensive holdings in British and American history, literature, art history, and the history of science and medicine, with the collections ranging chronologically from the eleventh century to the present. The Huntington will award to scholars over one hundred fellowships for the academic year 2011-2012. These fellowships derive from a variety of funding sources and have different terms. Recipients of all fellowships are expected to be in continuous residence at the Huntington and to participate in and make a contribution to its intellectual life. NEH Fellowships offer stipends of up to $50,000 for four to twelve months. Mellon Fellowship is for nine to twelve months with a stipend of $50,000. Dana and David Dornsife Fellowship is for nine to twelve months with a stipend of $50,000. INFORMACION SOBRE LA BASE DE DATOS Bibliografía histórica sobre la Ciencia y la Técnica en España Por su carácter interdisciplinario y multidisciplinar, conocer la producción científica de historia de la ciencia y de la técnica no es tarea sencilla y, por este motivo,   en el   año 1988 se creó   La Bibliografía histórica sobre la Ciencia y la Técnica en España en el Instituto de Historia de la Medicina y de la Ciencia López Piñero. Sawyer Seminar Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biopolitics for 2011-2012   The Center for the Humanities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship beginning July 1, 2011. The fellow will take a leading role in a Sawyer Seminar entitled “Biopolitics: Life in Past and Present,” which is funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The postdoctoral fellow may come from any discipline in the humanities or interpretive social sciences. We especially welcome work that theorizes or historicizes the concept of life; work at the intersection of the humanities and life sciences; and work that challenges disciplinary or methodological boundaries. Historians of science, technology and medicine are invited to apply for the third and final round of junior research fellowships awarded by Imperial College London. These awards will give the world's top early-career researchers three years free from teaching and administration plus a competitive salary and research expenses.   They are distributed across the disciplines on the basis of an internal Imperial College competition. In both previous rounds of the competition, the candidate put forward by the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine was sucessful. Applicants must have an upper second or first class undergraduate degree with a PhD or equivalent.
