The 13th International Conference on the History of Science in China (13th
ICHSC) forms part of the series of academic meetings organized triennially
by the Chinese Society for the History of Science and Technology (CSHST),
with the sponsorship from CAST and UNESCO. This year’s Conference will be
held for the first time outside China, and will take place in tandem with
the International Conference on Chinese History of Science and its
Interaction with Greek Civilization (ICCHS-IIGC).
The dual Conference is hosted by the Hellenic Open University of Greece
and will take place in Athens, Greece, between 22 and 27 July 2012.
The theme of the Conferences is
“History of Science and Technology in China: The perspective of
Interacting Civilizations”.
The following topics will be the focus of our conferences:
1. Civilizations’ interaction and comparative studies in science and
technology;
2. Studies in ancient Chinese literature concerning science, technology
and medicine;
3. Traditional technology and the intangible cultural and scientific
heritages in the world.
4. Chinese and Greek Civilizations: Similarities and Comparisons in the
fields of Science, Technology and Philosophy.
