3 Lectureships at UCL’s Department of Science and Technology Studies

I write to announce the third and final current vacancy in STS at UCL, Lecturer in Science Policy and to remind you of our two existing vacancies.
1) Lecturer in History and Philosophy of Science (grade 7 or 8, depending on experience)
The field of coverage is open. A preference will be for (1) those with subject expertise complementing existing staff in philosophy of science and integrated HPS, or (2) those with historical expertise in the sciences since 1700.
Closing date: 23rd April 2012; interviews to be held 16th May
2) Lecturer in Social Studies of Science (grade 7 or 8, depending on experience)
We are particularly interested in appointing a scholar with research and teaching expertise at the interface of science and technology governance with sociology or social studies of science.

3) Lecturer in Science Policy (grade 7)
The Department seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Science Policy to contribute to the department’s programme in science governance, policy and engagement within the broader context of science and technology studies. For the purposes of this position, science policy may be construed liberally to include theoretical, practical, and empirical dimensions of the subject. A strong preference will be for those with research interests in UK science policy in subject areas covered by the UCL BEAMS School and research interests that complement existing staff.
Closing date: 11th May 2012; interviews to be held 12th June
The successful candidates are expected to complete outstanding research and to teach courses in the relevant subject areas. The duties of the posts will include teaching on the department’s undergraduate and graduate programmes, supervising graduate students and contributing to administrative, pastoral, and engagement activities in the department.
