Call for Posters International Conference for the History of Science in Science Education
The
IX International Conference for the History of Science in Science Education
(ICHSSE) will take place in Flensburg, Germany from July 30th
through August 3rd. The topic of the conference is “Enabling
Scientific Understanding through Historical Instruments and Experiments in
Formal and Non-Formal Learning Environments.” Traditionally, this
conference brings together history of science experts interested in science
education and science education experts interested in using the history of
science. As the topic of this conference explicitly addresses topics that are
relevant to museums and science centers, experts from both fields have also
been invited.
Traditionally, the ICHSSE has no parallel sessions, intending to encourage communication among the participants; therefore, each 25-minute paper is followed by 20 minutes of discussion time. This, however, limits the number of participants who can present their recent work. To compensate for this limitation, we have scheduled an additional poster session, separately, in which up to 20 posters can be presented. This should enable more scholars to participate and maintain the emphasis on discussion.
Some posters have already been invited; however, we would like to offer more scholars the opportunity to participate in an active manner in the meeting. Consequently, scholars are invited to submit an abstract of a poster (maximum length of 250 words) by February 28th. Notification of acceptance will be sent out by March 16th. All participants are encouraged to participate in the entire conference. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer financial support to any presenters in the poster session; however, we can assist you in finding reasonable accommodation in Flensburg (see the conference website at http://www.uni-flensburg.de/science/ankuendigungen/9th-ichsse/ for further information). Please, submit your abstract, as well as any additional inquiries, to ichsse@uni-flensburg.de.
