Directorship of the Museum of the History of Science, University of Oxford
UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
Directorship of the Museum of the
History of Science
in association with Linacre College
The University of Oxford intends to
make an appointment to the Directorship of the Museum of the History of Science
at the earliest opportunity, in succession to Professor J.A. Bennett who
retired on 30 September 2012. The primary role of the Director is to lead the
development of the museum’s research, stewardship, curation, educational,
access, and fundraising profiles. A major challenge for the Director will be to
sustain the collections at the centre of the University’s teaching and research
at the same time as maintaining the museum’s commitment to public education.
The successful candidate will have an international research reputation in any
aspect of the history of science relevant to the museum’s role and collections.
Experience of fundraising, collections management, and education/outreach
activities would be desirable.
