Curator of Science & Technology
As Curator of Science & Technology, your main role
will be to develop exhibitions, galleries, publications, and other outputs in
the fields of historical and contemporary science, technology and culture.
Based in the Curatorial team and working on projects across the museum, you
must be able to research and deliver outputs engaging with a variety of
audiences. You will also work with our Development team to ensure that funding
is secured for projects.
We are looking for an individual who has experience of
developing sound curatorial ideas and innovative ways of engaging audiences
with the subject. You should be able to demonstrate experience of, or capacity
for, good curatorial and collecting practice, making sound judgments about the
significance of objects and the stories that they tell. Your excellent
teamworking skills will be supported by your ability to deal confidently with
people at all levels. As the role involves working across the collections, you
will have demonstrable knowledge of an area of history of science and
technology, and have the commitment to gain knowledge in other areas, including
contemporary science.
Associate Curator
As Associate Curator you will provide collections-based
expertise to exhibitions, galleries, publications, and other outputs. You will
carry out acquisition and disposal tasks and answer enquiries across the range
of the museum's collections. Based in the Curatorial team and working on
projects across the museum, you must be able to research and deliver outputs
engaging with a variety of audiences.
We are looking for an individual who has a commitment to
developing and communicating knowledge of both historical and contemporary
science, technology and industry. You will have experience of developing
content and an understanding of the needs of different audiences for museum
exhibitions and programmes. You will also have experience of curatorial
practice including making acquisitions and assessing the significance of
objects and the stories that they tell.
Corporate & Collections Information Officer
29 hours per week
As Corporate and Collections Information Officer, you
will play a key role in creating, maintaining and enhancing collections
records. Based in the Archives & Information team, you will process loans
and ensure information about hazardous materials and object movements are
properly recorded. You will help to ensure compliance with regulatory, legal
and information rights legislation, deal with a range of enquiries made
remotely and through the Collections Centre, and provide advice to researchers.
We are looking for an individual who has experience in a
collections registration, documentation or inventory role, with demonstrable
knowledge of relevant standards, legislation and best practice. Self-motivated
and highly organised, you will be methodical, and able to work under pressure
while maintaining thorough attention to detail. You will be an excellent team
player and communicator, keen to improve processes and appreciative of the
importance, impact and sensitivity of information.
