We seek a post-doc fellow to join our international team
and carry out research on the history of nuclear science in Europe as part of
“History of Nuclear Energy and Society (HoNESt)”, a three-year project funded
by the Euratom Fission Program. HoNESt aims to conduct an interdisciplinary
analysis of nuclear industry and its relationship to contemporary society over
the last 60 years in Europe.
Funding and Duration: The successful applicant is
expected to join our group on the 1st February 2015, subject to negotiation and
candidate’s schedule. The duration of the contract is six and half month (no
extension possible), and the net salary is about €2300/month, with additional
travel allowances to attend meetings and carry on archival research out of
Paris.
Eligibility: The successful applicant is expected to have
completed a Ph.D. in history of science and technology, science and technology
studies or a related field. Candidates should be fluent in English and French.
Knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.
Task: The successful applicant will carry out independent
and collaborative research under the supervision of Néstor Herran, coordinator
of the project at Pierre and Marie Curie University.
The main objective of our research team at the UPMC will
be to write a report on the history of the nuclear isotopes industry in Europe.
In doing so, we will carry an exhaustive review of published literature and
examine archives regarding European nuclear programs and nuclear international
institutions.
