Research Fellow position in Science, Technology and Innovation Studies, University of Edinburgh
Science, Technology and Innovation Studies (STIS) at the
University of Edinburgh seeks to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to
carry out research into the sociological, philosophical and/or governance
dimensions of the synthetic yeast project, an international project that aims
to build a synthetic ‘designer’ version of the entire genome of the yeast
species Saccharomyces cerevisiae (http://syntheticyeast.org/).
Applicants should have experience of conducting high
quality academic research in the field of Science and Technology Studies, and
should be willing to engage with scientists and engineers.
The Research Fellow will belong to a dedicated cluster of
researchers from the social sciences and humanities critically analysing the
field of synthetic biology, and will be affiliated with the 'Engineering Life'
project (http://www.stis.ed.ac.uk/engineeringlife).
This full-time, fixed-term post of 20 months is available
from 1st February 2016 (start date is flexible).
Salary Scale: £31,656 - £37,768 per annum
