The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Westminster is a dynamic centre of research in the heart of London. We have a tradition of critical research into leading topics in the Social Sciences and Humanities with internationally renowned research centres in the study of democracy, science and the imagination, contemporary China, the legal profession and modern contemporary culture. The University has a rich tradition of scientific innovation and promoting public engagement with science. We seek to appoint a leading, internationally-recognised researcher in the field of the modern history of science and innovation. The successful applicant will pull together strands of research and practice from across the Faculty and the University and build a research strength in the modern historical evolution of scientific and technological development.
The post holder will be located in the Department of History, Sociology and Criminology (HSC) in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Westminster History has established research and teaching strengths in twentieth-century British and European history which extends across to a network of historians in the University. The post holder will assume a leadership role in developing the research profile of Westminster History, building links between HSC and other departments in the Faculty as well as with other Faculties. The post holder will consolidate a network of vibrant research which demonstrates the links and connections between the history of scientific endeavour, technological development and everyday social and cultural life.
We are seeking a high-calibre candidate, working at the intersection of historical, scientific and technological studies, with a record of internationally-acclaimed scholarship and who is able to forge new and exciting partnerships both within and outside the university.
