Call for Applications: Consortium for History of Science, Technology and Medicine Fellowships

The Consortium for History of Science, Technology and Medicine invites applications for several fellowship opportunities in the history of science, technology, or medicine. Fellows gain access to the archives and collections of Consortium member institutions, as well as seminars and programs designed to support scholarly research.

Emanuel Fellowships for Independent Scholars
These fellowships offer stipends between $10,000 and $30,000 to support research in archives, oral history, or other methods, travel for research, or time to complete scholarly work in any format or medium. The stipend may also be used for salary support to allow time for research and writing. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) obtained at least two years before applying and must not hold a tenured or tenure-track position or be enrolled in any academic program. Eligible applicants include independent or alternative academic scholars, such as adjuncts, lecturers without research expectations, or unaffiliated researchers. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Research Fellowships
These fellowships support scholars conducting research in the collections of two or more Consortium member institutions. Awards include a base stipend of $1,000 plus $750 per collection used ($425 if collections are within 100 miles of each other). Typical awards range from $2,500 to $5,000. Scholars at any career stage are eligible, with no citizenship or residence restrictions.

Applications must be submitted online by December 15.
