World Vet History Congress - registration closes 18th August

Just a brief reminder that registration will be closing on the 18th August for the biennial congress of the World Association for the History of Veterinary Medicine, held at Imperial College London, 10-13 September 2014.

This event, of interest to scholars of the history of medicine, environmental history, and human-animal relationships among others, is being held held for the first time in Britain this year.  We have an exciting programme of speakers from 30 countries, addressing the twin themes of ‘One Health’ (connections between human and animal health) and ‘War, animals and the veterinary profession.’ There will also be sessions on veterinary collections, general veterinary history and oral history: http://www.veterinaryhistorylondon.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/provisional-timetable-01-05.pdf

Keynotes will be delivered by Professor Donald F. Smith, Professor of Surgery and Dean Emeritus at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (‘History of One Health’); and Dr Hilda Keane, Ruskin College, Oxford (‘War, Animals and the Veterinary Profession’).

There will be a welcome reception at the Royal Veterinary College, Camden, and the conference dinner will be held in a riverside venue at King’s College London.
