The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin Max Planck Research Group Art and Knowledge in Pre-Modern Europe; Director: Prof. Dr. Sven Dupré in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Amsterdam Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage programme; contact: drs. The tenure of the fellowship is to be divided between the two institutes: the first and third months will be spent at the MPIWG, the second month at the UvA (“Ateliergebouw”). World Vet History Congress - registration closes 18th August

Just a brief reminder that registration will be closing on the 18th August for the biennial congress of the World Association for the History of Veterinary Medicine, held at Imperial College London, 10-13 September 2014. Edition Open Sources: Two post-doctoral fellowships

Two post-doctoral fellowships (24 months) in the history of science and technology are offered to publish in the series of Edition Open Sources (EOS). Edition Open Sources pioneers a new paradigm for academic publishing of primary sources in the history of science. It combines open access (Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-SA) and rigorous peer review to ensure that each publication marks a significant contribution to scholarship.   Primary sources are reproduced in facsimile and XML-structured transcriptions, accompanied by scholarly essays. Edition Open Sources is a joint venture of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, Germany and the University of Oklahoma. Each fellow will be expected to publish a work in Edition Open Sources (EOS) by the end of the second year of the fellowship. Society for the History of Technology and the American Society for Environmental History, invites nominations for the 2014 Joel A. Tarr Envirotech Article Prize.

Announcing the Fall 2014 Joel A Tarr Prize Call for Submissions: Envirotech, a special interest group within the Society for the History of Technology and the American Society for Environmental History, invites nominations for the 2014 Joel A. Tarr Envirotech Article Prize. The Tarr Prize recognizes the best article published in either a journal or article collection on the relationship between technology and the environment in history. The prize committee is particularly interested in publications that show how studying the intersections of environment and technology can lead to new insights into historical topics. Articles originally published in any language are welcome, but applicants must provide a translation of non-English articles. To be eligible for the 2014 prize, the article must be published between November 1,  2012, and June 15, 2014.
