A one-week accredited residential summer school presented by the Faculty of Philosophy and the Department for Continuing Education, and based at St Catherine's College, Oxford.

We will explore the areas in which the philosophy of mind and ethics or the philosophy of value come into contact with issues about mental health.

The Summer School will appeal to a wide range of people with a professional or academic interest in the fields of philosophy and/or mental health.

This intensive programme will be delivered by renowned experts in the field through keynote lectures and seminars offering opportunities for substantial dialogue between philosophers, scientists and mental health practitioners. Sessions will include:

  *   Self and Other (Edward Harcourt, Anita Avramides and Peter Hobson)
  *   The Ancients and Mental Health (David Charles, Jessica Moss and
Chris Megone)
  *   Phenomenology in Mental Health (Joseph Schear and Katherine Morris)
  *   Values in Mental Health Practice (Bill Fulford and Roger Crisp)
  *   Moral Enhancement (Guy Kahane and Thomas Douglas)
  *   Consciousness (Tim Bayne and Matthew Parrott)
  *   Delusions: Clinical and Philosophical Perspectives(Lisa Bortolotii
and Matthew Broome)
  *   Self-Harm (Hanna Pickard and Anna Motz)
  *   Morality, the Brain, and Enhancement (Guy Kahane and Thomas Douglas)

With plenary and keynote talks given by international guest speakers:

  *   Professor George Graham (Professor of Philosophy and Neuroscience ,
Georgia State University)
  *   Professor Terence Irwin (Professor of Ancient Philosophy, Keble
College)
  *   Professor Chris Frith (Emeritus Professor of Neuropsychology at the
Wellcome Centre for Neuroimaging at University College London (UCL);fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, and Visiting Professor at the Interacting Minds Centre at Aarhus University)
  *   Professor Giovanni Stanghellini (Professor of Dynamic Psychology and
Psychopathology, University of Chieti (Italy)

The Summer School will take place at St Catherine's College, Oxford and includes opportunities to network and socialise with fellow delegates, faculty members and invited speakers. Residential and non-residential options are available.
