Time Period: Third party funding, starting from April 1st, 2015 limited to 24 months

Pay: E13 TV-L Berlin

Background to work environment:
The position is situated in the project “Mobile Objects” within the DFG Cluster of Excellence Image Knowledge Gestaltung. “Mobile Objects” is a joint cooperation between the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Department of History, the Humboldt-Universität Collections, the Ibero-American Institute and the Museum for Naturkunde Berlin. It addresses shifting concepts and conditions of mobility of scientific objects since the post-war era (https://www.interdisciplinary-laboratory.hu-berlin.de/en/base-projects/mobile-objects).

Responsibilities:
The scope of activities in this post includes the development and execution of a research project centering on the topic: “Political object mobility. Natural history collections in Berlin’s post war era.” Close collaboration and exchange with members of the base project “Mobile Objects” are required.

Requirements:
• Successfully completed university studies and a doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines: History of Science, Art History, History, Literary and Cultural Studies, Media Studies, Ethnology, Sociology, Science Studies • Knowledge of discussions and literature on material culture • Familiarity with the history of Berlin’s natural history collections • Familiarity with the relevant archives • Excellent reading comprehension skills in German Experience working in an interdisciplinary research context as well as strong team and communication skills are preferred.
