We're delighted to announce 2 new vacancies:
Special Collections Manager (Development &
Stewardship)
Special Collections Manager (Discovery & Access)
The Wellcome Library is one of the world’s major
resources for studying health in its historical and cultural contexts. We have
an international profile for our work in collection development, digitisation,
public engagement and technical development. The Library is situated within
Wellcome Collection, one of London’s fastest growing and most innovative
cultural destinations, and is part of the Wellcome Trust, a global charitable
foundation dedicated to improving health.
We are seeking two outstanding individuals to play
central roles in leading the future development of our special collections and
in maximising their discoverability, accessibility and usability.
For either post you will require a strong track record of
managing special collections and be able to think imaginatively about their
role in a 21st century library. You will combine a flair for building
high-quality stakeholder relationships with demonstrable strategic, operational
and project planning skills. In addition you will need the personal qualities
to provide leadership for a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team and
demonstrate a genuine commitment to working collaboratively.
For our Development & Stewardship role we are seeking
someone with the ability to foster an imaginative, forward-thinking and
inter-disciplinary collection development culture based on a sound
understanding of current trends in the management and preservation of both
analogue and born-digital content.
For our Discovery & Access role we are looking for
someone who has experience of service
delivery in a library, archive or similar, a solid understanding of current
trends in cataloguing, metadata management and digital initiatives and who also
brings a user-centred approach to everything they undertake.
We offer a salary of c. £55,000 per annum (depending on
experience) plus excellent benefits.
