Stip: 3 PhD Studentships in "History" (Univ. of London)

Birkbeck, University of London, London, 01.10.2013
Bewerbungsschluss: 15.02.2013

The Department of History, Classics and Archaeology at Birkbeck invites
applications from suitable candidates for three fully-funded PhD
Studentships, commencing 1 October 2013. Research expertise within the
department stretches from antiquity to contemporary history, and we
invite applications for any suitable topic.

Applicants will normally have completed, or be about to complete, a
Masters in history or a related discipline, with an achieved or
predicted grade of Distinction; and have gained a First-class BA honours
degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.

The Department will award two HCA studentships, which come from a
generous alumnus donation. These two awards will cover fees at UK/EU
levels, and a maintenance grant in line with AHRC rates for the duration
of three years (full-time students only). Applications from non-UK/EU
nationals will be considered, but any such applicant would have to cover
the differential between UK/EU and non-UK/EU student fees.

The Department will also award one AHRC studentship, consisting of fees
and maintenance at the normal research council rate for three years
(full-time) or five years (part-time). This AHRC Award is available to
UK and EU students. It is not open to international students.

The deadline for all applications is 15 February 2013.

Please note that in order to apply for funding, applicants must also
complete a postgraduate application to gain a place on the MPhil/PhD
programme of the Birkbeck Department of History, Classics and
Archaeology, either before (strongly encouraged) or at the same time as
applying for the studentships.
