CfP: Bodies and Climate : Transcorporeal Affects of Weathering

13 November 2026,  Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3 Research day organised by EMMA and the FORESEE project Organising team : Pauline Amy de la Bretèque (Nîmes Université), Jean-Michel Ganteau (UPVM), Marie Mianowski (Université Grenoble Alpes), Valérie Morisson (UPVM), Claire Omhovère (UPVM), Constance Pompié (UPVM).  This research day is part of a broader research projet on climate change and the way it may foster creative co-acclimatisation. In an article published in 2014, Astrida Neimanis and Rachel Loewen Walker   harnessed climate change to bodies arguing that « [t]o bring climate change home, in this context, entails reconfiguring our spatial and temporal relations to the weather-world and cultivating an imaginary where our bodies are makers, transfer points, and sensors of the ‘climate change’ from which we might otherwise feel too distant, or that may seem to us too abstract to get a bodily grip on. » They propose that climate and weather are n...

CfP: Due March 15: Maps and the Imagination

Invitation to submit proposals for a Special Issue to be published by  Imago Mundi: The International Journal for the History of Cartography Maps and the Imagination In light of the ongoing “cartographic turn” in literary studies and recent critical attempts to “remap” the field of cartographic history, we are seeking contributions for a special issue that examines the relationship between maps (from historical prints to digital creations) and the imagination (from the impact of maps on literary and visual arts to earthworks and new media). Following the growing interest in cartographic imaginaries, documented, for example, in studies like The Map as Art (2010), The Writer’s Map: An Atlas of Imaginary Lands (2018), or Fantasy Mapping: Drawing Worlds (2020), not to mention handbooks like Literature and Cartography:  Theories, Histories, Genres (2017), we seek to deepen our understanding of how maps shaped creative practices and products o...

CfP: Emerging Fuels, Energy Sources, and Technologies for a Just and Sustainable Transition for the Maritime Sector (Submission of Abstracts: 15-31 May 2026)

This thematic issue will address the emergence of alternative fuels, new energy sources, and new technologies that can help the shipping industry reach net-zero emissions by mid-century. The topic arises from the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) 2023 Strategy for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Shipping which set the goal for the industry to achieve net-zero emissions by or around 2050. While new fuels, energy sources, and technologies have been tested, achieving this ambitious goal requires a rapid energy transition within the maritime sector. Although significant efforts have been made in this direction, there is still a long way to go to reach the ultimate goal. In this context, the thematic issue focuses on emerging fuels, energy sources, and technologies currently being considered, tested, and implemented in the maritime sector. This makes the issue both timely and relevant, offering valuable insights into cutting-edge scientific advancements, best practices,...
