Vesalius and the Invention of the Modern Body

This symposium will examine the impact of Vesalius and his contemporaries on perceptions of the human body in medical, intellectual, and artistic contexts from the early modern period through the present. In addition to the presentation of academic papers, the schedule will include a live anatomy demonstration, rare book workshops, and a publishers’ exhibit hall. Daniel Garrison, Malcolm Hast, and Sachiko Kusukawa will present Keynote Addresses.
