Postdoctoral researcher (16 months)
The principal duty of the postdoctoral researcher is to pursue research within the remit of research project “Microhistorical epistemology.” The candidate is expected to publish her or his research in relevant international journals, collaborate with other members of the research group and assume some light administrative duties mainly in relation to The Centre of Philosophical Studies of History (http://www.oulu.fi/centreforphilosophyofhistory/) The postdoctoral researcher will be provided an opportunity to teach some classes or a lecture course in the area of her or his expertise. 
The candidate must have completed a doctoral degree by the time of commencing postdoctoral research. She or he has typically educational background in philosophy, but other relevant fields, including history, sociology, literature and cultural studies, are possible, if the candidate can show evidence of expertise in the theory and philosophy of history and regarding the themes of the research project. A track record of successful publications, or other proof of publishing capacity, is valued. Good organizational skills and a propensity for collaborative work are regarded as advantageous.
The salary will be based on the levels 5 –6 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 46.3 % of the job-specific component).
