CfP: HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES THEME @ 18TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SYSTEMS BIOLOGY

This year’s International Conference on Systems Biology, to be held in Lyon, between October 28th and November 1st, 2018, includes a theme on Humanities and Social Science Approaches. This is an ideal opportunity for engaging with scientists working in a very broad range of systems biology and systems medicine areas. Our keynote speaker is Professor Barbara Prainsack of the University of Vienna, whose recent book, Personalized Medicine: Empowered Patients in the 21st Century? (NYUP, 2017) demonstrates the extent to which the programme of personalised medicine is social and political as much as it is scientific.

We invite papers addressing the philosophy, history or sociology of systems biology, raising issues of epistemology or ethics. In particular, we are interested in papers that aside from bringing new insights to the field, will also open or continue conversations with scientists working in the field.

You can learn more about the conference here, and submit an abstract here.
