The Gender Initiative (Philomel) and the Biomedical Humanities Initiative of Sorbonne University are pleased to inform you of their recent collaboration. We warmly invite you to participate in the event we are organizing at the crossroads of biomedical humanities  and gender studies. This interdisciplinary  symposium entitled “Gender and Medicalization”  will take place on Monday November 28 and Tuesday November 29, 2022 in Paris. It aims at studying the place and the role of gender in medicalization.

 We welcome proposals from:

  •  Social Sciences in their diversity (Sociology, History, Literature, Anthropology, Classics, Psychology, Arts, Science and Technology, Economics, Law, Philosophy, Political Science, Public Health, etc.);
  • professionals from the health sector;
  • social activists in the field of health.
  • Abstract proposals can be written in French or in English.

They must contain approximately 250 words (±10%), and be sent by email to the following address: gender.medicalization@gmail.com.

The deadline for submission is Monday, May 16, 2022. Please include your university affiliation and a short biobibliography in your email. Sent as an attachment (in pdf or word format), the abstract must be completely anonymized.
