Wellcome-funded Studentships for the MA in History of Medicine at Newcastle University

We’re advertising two funded MA studentships, supported by Wellcome funding, for September 2022 entry to the History of Medicine MA programme at Newcastle University. Please forward on to anyone you think might be interested. I’ve summarised the main details below; full details can be accessed at:

The deadline for applications is March 11th 2022 at 5pm.

The scholarship includes the home rate of tuition fees, plus an annual living allowance of £16,000 and a personal research and development fund of £250. Successful international candidates will be required to fund the difference between home fees and international fees. Please note that the living allowance component of the award cannot be used for this purpose.

The studentships are open to UK, EU and international applicants who:

Have applied for, or hold an offer of admission for the MA History of Medicine

Hold, or expect to achieve, a 1st class honours degree or international equivalent.

Applicants with a high 2.1 honours degree may also be considered.

Applications should be submitted by email to pg.historical@ncl.ac.uk and should include the following:

A personal statement of no more than 1 side of A4, outlining why you want to study the MA in the History of Medicine;

A proposal for your masters dissertation project of no more than one side of A4 (longer proposals will not be considered);

Transcripts for your undergraduate degree;

A CV of no more than 2 sides of A4.
