Leeds Philosophy/History and Philosophy of Science Graduate Teaching Assistantship 2011-14 The School of Humanities at Leeds intends to offer a Graduate Teaching Assistantship in Philosophy or History and Philosophy of Science for its full-time PhD programmes. The scholarship is available from 26 September 2011 and consists in a payment of £8500 per annum for teaching and maintenance, along with full fee waiver for Home/EU students and partial fee waiver (equivalent to full Home/EU rate) for international students. The Scholarship is available only to new PhD applicants, not to currently registered PhD students. Scholarship recipients are expected to provide teaching and teaching support for Philosophy/HPS for up to six hours per week on average. Appropriate training is normally compulsory for all holders of these awards. PhD studentship at Imperial College London

The Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine (CHoSTM) at Imperial College London is offering a 3-year AHRC-funded doctoral studentship on the topic of ‘Veterinary training and veterinary work: A female perspective, 1919-2000’, to commence in October 2011 or January 2012. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growing body of knowledge about women in science, and also to develop new perspectives on the history of the veterinary profession. CHoSTM has a thriving PhD programme, and was judged the top history department in the United Kingdom in the 2008 RAE.   The studentship is in collaboration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons’ Charitable Trust.
