SHOT Levinson Prize for unpublished, new work: DEADLINE APRIL 15

Society for History of Technology: The Levinson Prize The Samuel Eleazar and Rose Tartakow Levinson Prize is awarded each year for a single-authored, unpublished essay in the history of technology that explicitly examines, in some detail, a technology or technological device or process within the framework of social or intellectual history. It is intended for younger scholars and new entrants into the profession. Manuscripts already published or accepted for publication are not eligible. In order to be considered, manuscripts must be in English and of a length suitable for publication as an article in Technology and Culture--approximately 7,500 words (not including notes) and 100 notes. The winning manuscript will be considered for publication in Technology and Culture. Microscope slide digitization project - call for participants

The Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics and the Faculty of History and at Oxford University are engaged in a Wellcome Trust-funded project to digitize, and make available online, the microscope slide collections of historically important scientists – see below for further information. We have begun with Charles Sherrington and Wilfred Le Gros Clark, but have also included contributions from Angelo Ruffini, Gustav Fritsch and others. This is part of a wider history of medical sciences initiative that includes 3D photography, a seminar series and art/science outreach - see the temporary site at https://history.medsci.ox.ac.uk/ There is also funding available to scan in and host pilot collections (20 or so slides) from other institutions that hold historically important slides.
