La Societat Catalana d’Història de la Ciència i de la Tècnica convoca la XIII Jornada per debatre temes a l’entorn de la relació entre la Història de la Ciència i ensenyament. El comitè organitzador de la jornada ha volgut aprofitar aquesta nova convocatòria per a ampliar els objectius i les àrees temàtiques amb noves idees i nous col·laboradors. Amb aquest esperit es convoca la XIII Jornada sobre la Història de la Ciència i l’Ensenyament, com a mostra de la consolidació dels vincles establerts entre la història de la ciència i l’ensenyament. Dear friends and colleagues, As you may know, the next year is the tercentenary of Leibniz’s death; Leibniz’s home towns, Leipzig and Hannover, would like to commemorate him by organizing a Summer School open to Master students, PhD students and young post-docs working on Leibniz or related topics. The School will be held in Leipzig and Hannover from July 7th to July 16th, 2016 (the big 10th International Leibniz-Konress will be held in Hannover in the following week), and will consist in lectures by Leibniz scholars, as well as discussions on the students’ work. The Leipzig-Hannover organization will provide lodging, food, and some limited allowance to cover the travel expenses. We hope to be able to host about 30 students of various ages and backgrounds. The "Medical Humanities: Health and Disease in Culture" area for the 2016 Popular and American Culture Association meeting in Seattle invites proposals related to the portrayal of health, illness, and health care in the discourses of popular and American culture.  Proposals representing perspectives in the humanities and the arts (e.g., film, history, literature, visual arts), social sciences (e.g., anthropology, cultural studies, sociology), and mass media (e.g., print or electronic journalism) in historical or contemporary contexts are welcome. Individual and full panel proposals are considered. For full panel proposals (generally four persons) please include titles and abstracts for all participants.
